Nike Jordan 16 (XVI), was published in 2001. After the success of Nike Jordan 15 (XV), there was no doubt that Nike / JB would continue to release Nike Jordan 16 (XVI) s were the next shoe to hit the shelves. Nike Jordan 16 (XVI) were designed by Nike Senior Footwear Designer Wilson Smith. This meant that it was the first project since the Nike Jordan 3 (III) that Tinker Hatfield was not behind. They feature a leather upper with black patent toe, as well as red accents, and a clear sole. The only thing wrong with the Air Jordan 16 (XVI) is that they have great traction, because there is not enough rubber on the bottom.
They were the original colorway of the Air Jordan 16 (XVI), and are set to be retroed in 2008 as part of Air Jordan 7 (VII) / Air Jordan 16 (XVI) Countdown Package. You can not have a model without colorway Air Jordan Black and Red. So with that said, Jordan Brand released the Air Jordan 16 (XVI) Original Black / Varsity Red. Although by 2001, Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls days were over, but anyone can appreciate the Air Jordan 16 (XVI) Original black / red.
